about amy

Amy is a lawyer with nearly 30 years of experience, who has devoted over half of her legal career to public service on behalf of Coloradans. She has served with distinction in the Colorado Attorney General’s Office, where she worked in the Criminal Justice and Consumer Protection Sections; in the U.S. Attorney’s Office, most recently as the third in command for the office under the Obama Administration; and in two District Attorney’s Offices.

Her experience ranges from cross-examining terrorists in court, to working on pressing issues of criminal justice reform, to managing a large office of prosecutors and staff. She has tried nearly 30 cases, including cases of sexual assault, drug trafficking, fraud, and crimes of violence. As a Deputy District Attorney, she has established and run a diversion program, served as a juvenile prosecutor, and was a member of Recovery Court (a specialized court for offenders with substance abuse issues).

Amy’s wealth of experience representing Colorado makes her uniquely qualified to be the next District Attorney of the Eighteenth Judicial District (Arapahoe County).

It’s time for new leadership and real reform in Arapahoe County.

Issues Amy is fighting for

For too long, the 18th Judicial District has prioritized winning over justice, leading to overcharging and disproportionate sentences, harming vulnerable populations, and wasting taxpayer money. With her wealth of diverse experience, Amy will bring smart reform to the office that prioritizes public safety, alternatives to incarceration when appropriate, and protecting vulnerable populations that call our community home.

Improve Community Safety

Amy’s top priority will keep our communities safe by ensuring violent crimes are prosecuted and violent criminals are kept off our streets, while at the same time focusing on rehabilitation and reducing recidivism.

Reduce Over-Incarceration

Prison is not the only option available when the State seeks justice for victims and addresses criminal behavior. As a prosecutor with experience in diversion programs and problem solving courts, Amy knows that alternatives to incarceration are sometimes more effective to rehabilitate offenders, particularly for those with mental health and substance abuse issues, and can ensure better outcomes for both victims and communities.

Protect Vulnerable Populations

Arapahoe County is a vibrant and diverse community, and all residents deserve to feel heard, respected, and protected by our courts. Amy will ensure that everyone in our district receives equal protection in her office.

Address Systemic Inequities

The 18th Judicial District is the most diverse district in the state and recent events have further exposed the racial inequities inherent in our criminal justice system, as well as the need for true criminal justice reform.
